A statement from the Chairman of Tintagel Parish Council

3rd October 2018

Dear Parishioners,

Many of you may be aware that we have had some issues regarding the TVC recently and I thought it best to clarify the situation with you to keep you informed.

After a couple of meetings with the volunteers we have had to unfortunately suspend retail sales for the time being although the Visitors still remains open for information purposes.
We met in early August with the volunteers to discuss its problems and a couple of times since but as yet no solutions have been reached.

I must assure you this is not the fault of the volunteers and we are very grateful for all their hard work over the years,

Unfortunately the TVC has been running at a large loss or loosing money for some time and this is increasing, not only this but we have discovered a VAT implication that had been missed meaning that currently we are trading illegally if we sell goods. As I’m sure you understand we must rectify this as the running of the TVC comes out of your purses as Council Tax Payers and also we need to sort the VAT issue.

We are trying to come to a suitable solution as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience this has caused. Please bear with us.

Cllr John Lewis – Chairman.
